Spicy Apple Bars
1/2 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 2 unbeaten eggs 1 cup sifted flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon cocoa | 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon cloves 1 cup rolled oats 1-1/2 cups diced pared apples 1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°. Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift dry ingredientstogether and add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats, apples, and walnuts. Spread into a greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake for about 25 minutes. Cool for five minutes and cut into bars. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
