Garlic Sticks

1 cup warm milk
1-1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 package yeast dissolved in
1/4 cup lukewarm water
3-1/2 cups flour
Melted butter
Garlic salt

Directions:
Mix milk, sugar, salt, and oil in a large bowl. In a small bowl, sprinkle one package of yeast over 1/4 cup lukewarm water and allow to stand until yeast is dissolved. Add to milk mixture. Add flour a little at a time, beating well after each addition. Knead dough on a floured board until smooth and elastic. Dough should be soft and slightly sticky. Cover dough and let raise for one hour in a warm, draft-free spot. Punch down dough. Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut with a knife into strips 1-1/2" wide. Twist each strip and place on a greased cookie sheet. Brush top of stick gently with melted butter. Sprinkle with garlic salt. Let sticks raise 1/2 hour. Bake at 350° until lightly browned. Serve warm.

This recipe is from an old Rebeccah Lodge cookbook from North Platte, NE. The contributor was Mrs. A. E. Sagesser. I have updated it a little.

Love At Home

There is beauty all around
When there's love at home.
There is joy in every sound
When there's love at home.

Roses bloom beneath our feet,
All the earth is a garden sweet,
Making life a bliss complete,
When there's love at home.
