Applesauce Oatmeal Drop Cookies

1 cup flour
1-1/3 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 cups applesauce
1-3/4 cups oatmeal
1 cup raisins

Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, and spices together and set aside. Cream margarine and brown sugar. Beat in the egg. Add applesauce alternately with flour mixture and blend well. Stir in oatmeal and raisins.

Notes:
I like to plump the raisins when I use them in cookies. It's easy to do and they taste much better. Put the raisins in a microwave dish with 2 tablespoons water. Microwave on high for 1 minute and let the raisins sit in the microwave until you are ready for them. Drain them well before adding them to the dough.

This recipe came from my mother, Doris Hill. It is handwritten by her on a recipe card.

Love At Home

There is beauty all around
When there's love at home.
There is joy in every sound
When there's love at home.

Roses bloom beneath our feet,
All the earth is a garden sweet,
Making life a bliss complete,
When there's love at home.
